For over 30 years I was a Production Sound Mixer on feature films, documentaries, commercials, and news. Working with Academy, Emmy, Sundance, and Independent Spirit Award winning filmmakers has been the best film school you could imagine.
One of the things I learned in all that time is that any communication is stronger when it has an emotional core. My job is to help our clients find the heart of what they want to say and turn information into a story that will connect and resonate with an audience.
I am a storyteller. That’s not just what I do, it’s who I am.
One of the biggest challenges of this project for me as Producer, was the long gestation period. The renovation of this Philadelphia elementary school playground was planned to be a year-long process involving community, city, and school district collaboration. That was before COVID hit and delayed things even further. One video turned into multiple videos and social media posts to satisfy multiple funding sources and keep the level of involvement and enthusiasm high. Director: Pat Ganley
One of my favorite clients is Mission First Housing. They are a nonprofit that provides affordable housing in the Middle Atlantic Region. We do a profile of their work every year. This particular year was challenging because we like to show off their properties with drone footage and their DC properties are literally on the edge of the “No-Fly Zone” in Washington DC. It took some coordination with the FAA, Homeland Security, and the DC Police, but we were able to get great shots. Director: Chris Marston
Very excited to produce this video for Outward Bound. First of all, it was a profile of their work supporting veterans. PWP is very proud of the work we have done with veterans including our long history with the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. I was also excited because of the challenge it presented: capturing moments while paddling on a three-day canoe trip on the Delaware River. Those challenges included repeated schedule changes due to the weather, the river, and the veteran’s availability. I think the success of the piece is rooted in getting past the details of the activity itself and reaching the reasons veterans suffering from PTSD find the program so effective. Director: Aaron Vandeweerd, Michael Schweisheimer
“Illuminating Human Lives” was a wonderful project we undertook in collaboration with Cliveden House of the National Trust in consultation with numerous historians to recreate scenes from the lives of enslaved people who lived on the grounds of the Benjamin Chew House in Germantown, Philadelphia. These scenes were based on available legal documents, diaries, and letters and allow us to give visitors a taste of what life might have been like in the house in the 18th and 19th centuries. One of the most important challenges was safely filming in the Cliveden House which is a protected U.S. National Historic Landmark. We were very fortunate to find a cast of very talented actors after an extensive casting search. It has been very well received by History buffs and Educators alike. Director: James Robinson
